RIP Nicolas Roeg (1928-2018) – British film director and cinematographer of films such as Performance (1970), Walkabout (1971), Don’t Look Now (1973) and The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) passed away. A director who worked with different genres and styles, Roeg began his career as cinematographer working with directors like David Lean, François Truffaut and John Schlesinger, later on developing his own films as director with Performance starring James Fox and Mick Jagger. Other credits include: Bad Timing (1980), Eureka (1983), Insignificance (1985) – by that time he received a song tribute from Big Audio Dynamite with the song “E=MC2

which mentioned all his previous films and the power of his craftsman and visual imagery; The Witches (1990), Heart of Darkness (1994) and Puffball (2007), his final film. He’s also remembered for directing two PSA’s in UK on the AIDS epidemic, narrated by John Hurt – “AIDS: Iceberg” and “AIDS: Monolith” – this one being the most remarkable. He’ll be missed.
